Learn to Top Down Socks - June 9
Socks are an ideal, portable knitting project. Everyone wears them and it seems like most every knitter is making them. If you’d like to learn how to knit socks, please join us for a four-week series where you’ll learn how to knit socks from the cuff to the toe, also called top down.
You’ll learn:
To size a sock to fit just about any foot
Turn a heel
Pick up stitches
Decrease stitches, including knit two stitches together (K2tog), slip-slip-knit (SSK)
Graft with the kitchener stitch
Level: Advanced Beginner. Must know how to knit, purl, and cast-on.
We’ll provide: Pattern and four 2-hour sessions.
Materials List:
100gr of plyed fingering weight yarn purchased at Wollhaus
five size 1 1/2 double pointed needles (2.5mm) or two size 1 1/2 circular needles
tapestry needle, and scissors (may bring your own).
Instructor: Brenda Josephson is an experienced sock knitter and loves to explore new ways to construct socks. An engaging and popular instructor, Brenda finds a way to help all students grasp the concepts of the project at hand.
Scheduled Sessions: Four Sunday afternoons, June 2nd, 9th, 23rd, and 30th from 1:30 -3:30 pm.
